Classwork: Students learned how the Earth Sun relationship makes seasons happen.  Students were taught:

  • importance of the tilt of the Earth

  • importance of the equator, Tropic of Cancer, and Tropic of Capricorn as areas of focus of the sun’s direct rays

  • indirect vs. direct

  • various seasons and why latitude determines a temperature heavily

  • mythologies associated with seasons (Persephone)

  • Why Christmas day was chosen after Winter Solstice

  • Terms such as equinox, solstice

  • how the seasons switch when you cross the equator

Homework: Ask your parents if they know why we have certain seasons.  If they don’t know, gently tell them.
